More from the archives, the Portland Chinese Gardens.
After spending several hours walking around the gardens we decided to go inside the tea house for a much needed refresher! I was rather skeptical about going inside since I had never been to one and the idea of drinking hot tea in the middle of the summer was NOT appealing. Luckily to my surprise the place was air conditioned! Bliss!
We all got our individual little pots of tea and little cups, it was so charming! This event was what really got me obsessed with buying tea pots. I love tea pots. I forget what each of us got, I know I had delicious hibiscus tea, I think my friend had a flower tea, and her friend that came with us got a green tea of some sort.
My tea was rich and delicious and more citrusy than floral, which was nice. It went really well with the red bean cake we shared.
Do not be thrown off by the name of Red Bean Cake, it did not taste like beans. Its a sweet cake with almost chocolate undertones and it was really light. Delicious.
The spring rolls we got were pretty good too, but I was much more interested in the red bean cake. Overall it was so lovely!
